baby brown snake

kfroggy420 Jul 01, 2004 11:51 AM

My husband brought me home a small brown snake yesterday. Well, she gave birth to four babies three of which died, then she died. I have one tiny little baby left and I'm not sure how to care for him. Could someone please tell me what a good setup might be,does he have any special heat requirements? Should it be more humid or dry?
And what should I feed him? He is so tiny! Thanks!

Hello,
i care Baby-Brown-Snakes (storeria dekayi) only in small container with tissue as soil. The risk is high, that the babys would drawn by another soil. Feed them with the smallest earthworm you can get, and cut these worms in small pieces. (clean the worms under water)
I care them more humid and by ca. 77° fahrenheit. A cup for water don´t be absent.
Greetings bernie

Wow um, some of what he said, a small container. Use soil as the substrate, make sure the snake has some rocks or something to hide under. You won't need any additional heat. Feed it really small worms or slugs, if you try slugs you'll probably have better success with getting it to eat.
