i finally measured my two mali uros. i was wondering if anyone could guess their ages by their size. spike is 8in head to tail. and turtle is 10 in. also im getting a female today. i saw her at the pet shop and she was not being properly cared for so i have been saving up to get her. i have the mony to get her now so im so excited. just thought id share.

nevermind im not getting the new uro. i went to pick her up and she had died before i could save her. i really wish the people taking care of the animals in pet stores would research the animals they are taking care of.

Pet store owners really need to know what they are getting into. However, if you were to think like a business owner, you would not excatly want to keep them top of the line health-you all and I know how much it can cost keeping 2,3,10 herps alive, it could get way to much. But, as an advocate for animals, they really should research. A Pet Warehouse® in my area has a uro, and my girlfriend and a guy working there became friends, and they talk about all the herps they got. She told him that their uro wasn't looking too hot, he didn't know. But, he said if he is looking bad to show him what a healthy one looks like. Me and fluffy are going to have to take a trip pretty soon!!

See I have the exact same question. My brother and I got our first uromastyx *mali's* in November 2002. So they are at least a year and half old if not 2. But they aren't growing that fast. They are perfectly healthy and get fed regularly, they get to go out of the cage and play on the couch every day. And they both bask for at least 4 hrs a day. I don't know what they measrue but I can find out.

mine were givin to me about 7 months ago. no clue how long the guy had them before he gave them to me.
