Ideal lizard

Bushmaster Jul 01, 2004 02:04 PM

Hi guys, I am needing some sugestions:
I have a terrarium with 34x16x16in, and I want to put a pair of lizards in it. I want a lizard terrestrial, easy to breeding, cheap, hardy in captivity and voracious at feeding, more than 12in and non gecko specie. What would be good for me?
thanks

well it depend on what you mean by easy to breed.are you talking breeding year round or lizards that need to be cooled.once i know this i can help.also why not any geckos.they are some of the easyest to breed of all lizards.

I was looking for a diurnal lizard, but I dont want phelsumas. so it cant be a gecko. I mean easy to breed a animal that have some breeding info and not for too much experienced hobbyists.

ok.most of hte lizards i mention will need to be cooled during the winter to get them to breed.
curly tailed lizard
any of hte north amarican lizards will breed if cooled during winter(dont try collared lizards, chuckwallas,or desert igs as these need lots of room)
rainbow whiptails are good sout amarica lizards that have adapted to floridas climate adn live down thier now(they will breed year round if htey are given the right care requirements)

sorry i got to go.i will be back in a little while with some more choices i have to go to work
