is heat tape with a thermostat ok to use under mellimean(spelling)???

most of my enclosures are made of mellimean. its a white lamenated type of partical bord. is it ok to use heat tape with it, or will it start on fire.

Yes its fine to use flexwatt under melamine cages as long as you use a thermostat or dimmer. And make sure your cage bottom is sealed well so no chances of moisture of anykind will leak thru to the heat tape.

I don't know about fire if you use a therhmostat or dimmer, but, there is a school of thought that states you should not apply heat or humidity to melamine. See URL enclosed below:

Well this should be interesting to see what others think about the site you attached with your reply since everyone is using melamine board to make their shelving units and breeder racks. I would certainly like to see what others think. Thanks for the info.
