eye infection

Justin Stricklin Jul 01, 2004 11:07 PM

Well the midlnd I got from my neighbors pond has the eye infection thing. It started as one eye and is nw both. The first eye is horrible looking and scabed over. It is a parisite I think. I absolutely love this snake. I have it very far fromt he rest of my collection nad this has been one of my favorite snakes. I have had it for opnly 2 months but i has a great peronality. It was never shy, and never turned down food. Even now it eats with no problem but it can barely evn see. On eye is dead and the other is dieng. It is a realy great snake but I am afraid i'll have to put it out of it's missery. What would be a good way to do this. Oh and it now has mouth rot and a number of other things wrong with it's head. Its head is swollen. I thouht about putting it in a ziplock and freezing it, because reptiles just shutdown and feel nothing when cold. I wil give it till it starts refusing food. It seems very happy and moves plenty with good coordination. vet is out of question. No vet here that would not think it is a cottom mouth or copperhead.

The best way to do it is to put it in the freezer, the snake will last fairly long, I've had very small brown snakes survive 15 minutes in the freezer, in a airtight container.
