a question for tamatave owners, and those who know the morph

safo Jul 02, 2004 12:56 AM

I am wondering, i have noticed when i take my male out, or when he is huntingin his cage, he gets likes a blue color, some green along his spine twoards his tail, and some small patches of red, his stripe gets a nice blue/turqoise color. he is about9- 10 months old.His dad was almost solid red. how long does it take for them to come into there full colors? I saw a pic of a sambava that looked very similar to mine, not sure if this is common.I will get some pics up this weekend with my cage i made for outside. I think i have this digital camera down now, any thoughts on the topic?

your tamatave is mostly blue? not green? I have a very red tamatave male, he gets a blueish color on the top of his head and his white stripe turns bluish green sometimes...but I've never seen a blue bodied tamatave. Most tamataves have a slight green at the base of the tale at the spine. The tamatave at 9-10 months should have all the color its going to get, colors only inhance after that age, ie the reds get brighter and the greens get greener...the blue/green on the head will not change any I dont think. My male is now right at 2 years old...you can see him in my picture gallery.
