What kind of lizard?

amylongoria Jul 02, 2004 09:20 AM

I bought a lizard last night and was told it was an Emerald Swift but today when I looked it up it looks nothing like an emerald swift. My lizard is smooth skined and his head looks similar to a skink or a monitor and his head is brown and his back is brown with white spots closer to his belly from the brown and spots he fades to green and then to a gray blue tail. His belly is white with black spots and his back feet have blue and green spots. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated so we can care for him properly.

Despite the color, it could still be an Emerald Swift. I've seen brownish ones before.

GOT HERPS?

From your description it sounds like it could be an ameiva...They're a medium size teiid from South America (with an established colony in Florida) that are basically tan in front and bright green over the lower back and rump...Look kind of like a small tegu...
