Chameleon sugestion

kev-n-gina Jul 02, 2004 12:08 PM

I have had my veiled for several years now and have several throughout my herping experience. they have always been Veiled because due to my room and caging they are easiest for me. SO does anyone have a suggestion for another Cham Sp.who can...................
A. the same BASIC care as a veiled IE.heat/humid
B. can be housed together within teir own sp. w/o stress
C stay reletivly small
D are primarly arborial

I have a small upright area in my room that I am trying to fill and would like to expand my experience with Chems. but if none meet my specific needs my plan is to get another snake
I plan to research sp. to determin best so if you just think that a sp. would match my need I would aperciate it. I can make minnor changes for habital but hope not to make to many because the room is used for other animals as well and hope not to disrupt them

-----
thanks
Kevin

The combination of characteristics you want doesn't really exist in the cham world. A few of the montane chams can be housed together in a very large space, but you don't have enough room, and they also require lots more humidity and cooler temps than veileds would. There are some smaller species that might suit your space, but they are literally all wc, not very established in captivity, and would not do well in a busy room anyway. I'd opt for the snake and enjoy the chams you keep now. Another possibility is a pair of crested geckos. Neat looking, pretty mellow, smaller space requirements.

hi try a pygmy chameleon like a r. brev.
if i'm not mistaken i think first choice has em' wild caught and captive bred. they are fairly easy to take care of if you do your research first!pretty inexpensive too
