My tough guy

atomic Jul 02, 2004 12:12 PM

So we finally got a digital camera yesterday & I thought I'd share some pics of Grass. He has been such a ham all morning, you'd almost think he knows he's having his picture taken!

Here he is on my desk, looking for things to knock over:

His supermodel pose:

My, what big eyes you have!:

You can see his poor stumpy spikes in these shots They are growing back slowly, though. His color doesn't look great here, but I think it's a combination of the camera quality and the fact that he's in full-body pre-shed mode.

Grass is a very beautiful iguana...are you sure he is a he? He looks a lot like my females...he has smallish jowels and no brain bumps....what are the pores under the rear thighs like? small or large? Again beautifulll....Lyn

Grass looks more like a she than a he. Beautiful Iguana and fortunate to have such a caring owner.

I was thinking the same thing about our igs being hams........dang if they don't know their picture is being taken!

Here's Forest being his usual ham self.......(I know you've all seen it. I like to brag. They ARE such hams!!!)

Danged if you all aren't right! I just took it on word that she was a he, and never looked closely at those femoral pores. She's got some orange to her dewlap & legs so I just assumed...

But after comparing with photos, Grass is most certainly a she!

I feel so silly :P We're gonna go to the vet next week and get her calcium levels checked. I don't think she's anywhere near gravid, but best to be sure.

Funny thing -- I went & got materials for a nesting box yesterday & was so proud of myself. But the little dickens is totally uninterested in digging; she just thinks it's the greatest litter box ever! Oh brother...
