Odd habit...a bit gross

FisherCham20 Jul 02, 2004 02:23 PM

I've noticed my cham has started a new habit. After I put his crickets in the container, he runs right over and poos in it. It's kind of funny but annoying because I have to take the crickets out and clean it out and then put them back in. Any idea how I can curb this or just something I'll have to put up with?

If the container is under his basking area (I notice many chams poop right after basking) try moving it somewhere he can't perch right over it.

It's on the opposite side of the cage from his basking spot. I've even tried moving the container and he still "finds" it.

haha~ youve got a litter trained cham~! have you tried leaving one cup for him to poop in and another for his feeders? i wish my chams would poop in a cup, it would make life so much easier~

I think the most simple solution is to leave the "toilet" where it is, on a permanent basis(except for cleaning of course), and at feeding time, add a second container in a different spot.

Zoe always went to the bathroom in the same spot too. Right over a ledge that at one time was meant to hold his feeding cup (which he wouldn't eat out of anyway) so I just gave up, and let him have it as his bathroom instead.
