Florida leglity question

alkahoon Jul 02, 2004 02:34 PM

I happened to notice the question of how gilas would do in Florida. My question has to do with legality. I am moving to Fort Lauderdale later this summer. I would really like to get into beadeds and possibly gilas. Does anybody know what is involved? Is a permit needed? And if so, how difficult of a process is it to obtain? Thanks, Brian

You will need a Venomous permit and the hours of care to qualify.

I'm also from the Fort Lauderdale area, and while I am sure a permit is needed, don't be suprised if you see pet stores (in particular reptile shops) selling venomous reptiles to you based on your "word". The same goes with online.
While I don't agree (or disagree, provided you have the proper knowledge of the reptile and know how to care for it) with it, if you want a venmous reptile and don't have a permit, you're always going to find someone who will sell you them anyway.
