Missing snake spotted, but still not caught!!

Devilish1182 Jul 02, 2004 02:56 PM

I posted a while back about my red tail who escaped and went missing. I've been under the house a few times but couldn't seem to find him anywhere, then the other day I was getting out of the shower and saw him poke his head out of a small hole in the bathroom next to the bathtub. He didn't come out far enough for me to get him and by the time i went back under the house he was gone. I think that he might be hiding underneath the bath tub but its impossible for me to reach or see there without removing the tub. He's probably extremely hungry by now. Is there maybe some kind of trap I can set up under the house to catch him cuz i'm running out of ideas. I had a heating pad setup near the hole in the bathroom and a box of rats but nothing has worked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Katy

I've never had the pleasure of trying to catch a snake around the house but have read that if you put a box along a wall, they will climb into it. It seems to me your heat idead is a good start, maybe combine the 2 ideas. If it poked it's head once, it knows the hole is there. I would concentrate on that room. Good luck. If it were me I'd have tha tub out in a minute. Isn't there a crawl space or something you can get into? Unfortunately it's summer time. Hopefully you won't have to wait for winter.

Good luck.

Set up some barriers with traps at the end of them I think. At the end dig a hole with a trash can over it and a hole in the can for the snake to crawl in.

I heard that duct tape traps will work. I had a couple juvy retics out for awhile, and I put some down. I ended up finding them anyways. But put down a big square of it near the hole you saw him coming out of. And dont worry too much, he will come out when he gets hungry. If you do get desperate, pulling some of the drywall out near the tub may work to find him. He may be in the walls behind your tub. Good luck, i know its frustrating to have one loose.
