Dude, you make it sound like this is a good thing. Retics and Burms are being abandoned by the masses in Florida by irresponsible owners. I don't have any links for you off hand about this situation, but I hope you don't think this is some sort of cool thing.
I do not believe this to be a good thing at all. In fact I think it could be very dangerous to us that own them. That is why I want to find out exactly what is happening.
there r retics burms caimens and monkeys in the everglades as well as other parts of florida, when they get to big people just let them go. the monkeys got loose do to a plane crashing trying to smuggle the monkeys in illigaly.

Pretty much what Cody said, Everglades is a place where the habitat is suitable for these herps to live, people drop them off there if they dont want them. Yes it is a bad thing, it is screwing up the native species ecosystem i guess, which is bad, and when these snakes are found by the right law enforcement the outcomes of these animals lives probably arnt good.
These were circulated last year I think.. Someone watched the batter between this 8ft gator and a large burm on a dock and took photos.. Very sad if you ask me.. The burm seems to of put up quite a struggle..

There's a post on the Burm forum right now, with a picture. A forum member saw a 10-12 footer and attempted to catch it, but it got away. He said it acted wild enough that he thought it was hatched there as opposed to a released or escaped pet.
See this is what makes us herper look bad. Irresponsible Parents/young kids buy this large snakes as baby's then as they get older and aren't as cute and eat too much they dump them, I think that because of these irresponsible people owning these snakes thats why the laws are beginning to become more strict, Just look at that Ohio bust (Irregardless if the snakes were a lucy CBB BLACK RAT you got the book thrown at you because black rats are native) and the new NYC Bill. These laws are put into action because of a few stupid people and it screws it up for the rest of us. As far as retics in the everglades, thats a waste such a beautiful snake why not donate it to someone that would take care of it.
