Western Toad humidity

kg Jul 02, 2004 11:06 PM

Hello,
What range of humidity is ideal for a Western Toad? Just caught a juvenile today (about 1 inch long) and I have him in a shoebox set-up with bed-a-beast, a shallow water dish, and a ceramic hide. I'm not sure whether to have it damp or dry though. Thanks for any advice.

I think it is safer to keep toads on the dry side. For toads I care for that are used for outreach programs, I keep them on dry unbleached papertowels with a water dish. I haven't had any sickness in toads with this setup for 4 yrs.
