What kind of rat?

severa Jul 02, 2004 11:49 PM

I live in Ga and this is the third one of this kind I have found this year. I am sure it is a rat but is it a juvi black rat or grey rat or a possible cross? I need to post another pic but this is the only one I got before the batteries in the camera died out.
It is 18 inches long and has grey and black throughout its body. Also, do juvi black rats look just like the adults or do they have grey pigment that goes away with age?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Looks like a black rat. When first hatched, they have a lot of silver in them that eventually fades as they grow older.
