Hi I'm new

dragonfruit_85 Jul 03, 2004 01:20 AM

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I have a Columbian Black and White Tegu, 2 years old, who I got from Petco. "She" had MBD and I was given the wrong information about how to care for it,(Impulse buy, I know I know). I now know that it is a HE and he is doing awesome today. Because of the MBD, his jaw is misshapen which makes it hard for him to eat, but he manages. I was wondering, what is the right size for him to be at this age? He is more than 2 years old, maybe 2.5 years. Thanks all!

P.S. I have a feeling the pic may not work, not sure why though so here's the other addy: www.freewebs.com/dragonfruit_85/pets.htm

Welcome Dragonfruit, I told you you'd enjoy this forum.
To those that don't know, I found this poor person trying to find tegu people on another forum, so be gentle. lol

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Hello and welcome. Do not beat yourself up about the impulse buy some of the most rewarding experiences come about that way. As long as you are willing to learn and give the best to your tegu. It is hard to say what an average size for your tegu should be. With the MBD there is no telling. However I would not worry about his size as long as he is healthy and active. I have a columbian that is over a year old that my wife and I rescued 8 months ago that had been severly underfed and the temps were very cold for them. She is now moving around on her own and will eat on her own. But she is only 15 inches long including tail. I do not worry about her size since she is parasite free and healthy she sheds regularly and is the most honery of my lizards. Good luck to you and enjoy your tegu.

Welcome! I've got two young reds. How is your Colombian's temperment? I keep hearing horror stories about the Colombians. Always good to have new people here!

My tegus tempermant is pretty good considering I havent spent a ton of time with him. He has never bitten me, but has come close at times. He is a bit skittish when I approach him, so I tend to do it dramatically slowly. Thanks to everyone for being so nice to me!
