Lookie what we found...

...in a woodpile in a friend's back yard here in upstate NY. It's a young male eastern milk about 16-18", we don't see these around here as much as we used to but they're still about.
He is very sweet, has not attempted to bite or musk once despite being on his way to or coming out of the blue. He does have a couple of scabs and scars on him that look like they may pose a problem shedding, think he may have been chewed on or bitten by some animal. So I brought him home for observation and a good feed (hopefully). The pic's a bit dark, but his red is a nice rich rusty shade, we usually have very bright red ones in this area. He's going to be very pretty once he sheds.
Enjoy!

Syracuse huh? Well we're about 2 hours directly east of you down the thruway in Amsterdam! The snake was found in Perth, about 15 minutes from our house which unfortunately is in the middle of the town and all I see around here are the occasional garter and python escapees (no lie lol).
I lived in Esperance and in Schoharie County for years, that's where we used to find the real red ones.
