Rubidus are hatching!

oldherper Jul 03, 2004 05:43 AM

They started pipping yesterday morning, all eggs are pipped and one baby is out crawling around this morning. Exactly 90 days.

I'll post some photos of the babies in a couple of days. They are a fairly uniform dark slate grey with white/salmon bellies, throat and cheeks, and the typical Drymarchon speckled "bands" and facial flashes. I'll post photos after the first shed also.

Yep...that's the plan! Hopefully a bunch of us can meet up down there and at least go out to dinner together and get to know each other face-to-face a little. I know Deano will be there for a presentation.

to show throat, chin and belly coloration a little better...

Still not great photos, but I'll do some more when I get a little more time.

Sharp looking babies!

They look BIG too.
It'll be interesting to see how these guys feed.

Hopefully, they will be more like Texans and less like easterns!
Good luck!

I hope so too! But, I do have a bunch of tricks in my bag if they are stubborn...thanks mostly to everyone on here. Hopefully they'll take unscented F/T rat pinks right off the bat (yeah, right!). It looks like I ended up with 3 pair and one extra female. How's that for luck?
