how to get my AFT to eat from a dish.

alieliza Jul 03, 2004 11:27 AM

My fat tail used to only eat out of a dish (hes not a very good hunter). Then, he stopped eating for about three months.... he is back on track now, eating well and gaining weight, but it seems as if he has forgotten that there are meal worms in his dish. He eats crickets right up, and sometimes if i drop mealworms in front of him he will gobble them up, but not always. How can I get him to start eating out of the dish again? Also, he used to eat waxworms on the occassions that i would give him them (in the dish) and now wont touch them. I know its a sure fire way to put some weight back on, fatten up his tail, but the dish just doesnt register.
Please help!

lure him over there. I drop my mealworms into a dish with a spoon and both of them go nuts and bite the spoon if given the chance. So put some food in a spoon, get the geckos attention, then lure it towards your dish and drop it in, hopefully the whole time you have its attention. But before put a bunch of food in there.
Maybe it'll catch on. one of mine just eats out of the spoon only... its a bit of a pain but cute/
