housing question -

zombielove Jul 03, 2004 12:55 PM

I have a 2 year old regular female leo, right now she's living alone in a 20 gallon terrarium. My husband and I got such a large terrarium because we wanted to get a few more. So here are my questions:

will she eat a baby leo if i place it in the terrarium, and if so at what age should i put the newbie in with her.

do leos do okay with being house with other leo morphs. (e.g. we were thinking about getting a blizzard leo)

thanks so much.

Possibly, however a much worse death can be possible just by housing them together. Only leos of similiar size should be housed together (especially in a tank that size). The larger one WILL intimidate the smaller one (either directly or indirectly). Just having the larger one there will cause the smaller to start refusing food. As for an age, I would say at least full adult (usually 9-12 months, I would say longer to be sure).

As long as you follow the rules for not keeping males together and keeping similiar sizes together, this should not be a problem.

A baby would get eaten by a bugger leo. Different morphs don't matter as long as aren't two males. I have a high yellow/ reg. and a blizzard leo my self and they are good friends. Two females.

yes, you can put females of the same size together; however, do keep an eye on them to see if they can get along with each other. Most of the time they'll get along ok; but there are exceptions. I have a female that will fight with anyone that enters her tank; male or female. If they do fight, then you'll need to house them seperately.

great. we were planning on getting a female anyways. i just was unsure about when to "introduce" them because every site i've looked at, and every book hasn't gone into specifics. thanks.
