Just reading up on my babies

Pets4life Jun 20, 2003 04:27 PM

I have recently read that RES's dont reach maturity until they are about 4-5 years old. But my RES recently had a batch of eggs and she is only 1 1/2 years old. I have had her since she was a hatchling. Is she just a quick one or is this normal for them to have eggs before they reach maturity. And are the male RES the only ones to do the mating dance?

How big is your turtle? Generally it takes around 4 years for them to reach maturity, but ideally you should go by the size of the turtle, and not the age of the turtle.

A turtle can reach maturity around 4" to 5" in size. Your turtle might be overfeed and causing her to grow faster.

My turt is about 6-7 inches long but she is only 1 1/2 years old. Well I guess she 's mature then right?
