Frilled Dragon Questions

haveagreenday Jul 03, 2004 04:13 PM

I'm getting a frilled dragon and I have a few questions:

1) Would a 3 1/2 foot tall, 3 foot wide, 3 1/2 foot long custom cage work?

2) Do they need a moving water source like mountain horned dragons do?

3) How much will a cb babie cost?

4) If wc what are the chances of parasites and/or disease for babies?

Thanks,
haveagreenday

1) Would a 3 1/2 foot tall, 3 foot wide, 3 1/2 foot long custom cage work?

Yeah, I'd say that'd work. Mine is 4 foot tall, 4 foot wide and 2 foot deep.

2) Do they need a moving water source like mountain horned dragons do?

No, but it doesn't hurt. Mine seem to respond better to moving water than to still water. Plus it adds a nice touch

3) How much will a cb babie cost?

Probably 150 bucks, give or take. Probably a little bit more, but I've found some for 150. Be sure to get it from someone who actually knows. If the response is vague or "iffy", it's probably an import.

4) If wc what are the chances of parasites and/or disease for babies?

I have only had one wc baby, and it was clean. However, there's always a chance with wild caughts. Does 50/50 sound fair anyone?

Thank you I will try to find a cb at the fire show on saturday. Do you think there will be a difference in price at a show?

Well, you'll save on shipping, and that's usually an additional 30-50 bucks. However, I've never really seen what I trust to be a captive bred frilled at a reptile expo, so I'm not sure. I doubt it. If you want to get it from a breeder, then it's more than likely the same price.
I traded some reptiles for a frilled 3 weeks ago. They said it was captive, but I'm 99% sure it's an imprort. I hardly think a seller would charge 100 bucks for a captive bred frilled, when imports go for that price. So if you want a captive bred frilled, make sure the one you're buying it from knows where it comes from. Ask questions where it's from. Did he breed it? If not, where did he get it from. How old is it. Etc. If he's an honest man and truly care for his reptiles, he should know these questions.
