sorry but the 70 plus pounder gravity challenges me!
I'm sorry to have been away from the forum so long, I have
tried checking it some from work. I've been terribly busy as
I just opened the largest used car dealership in this city,
as the sole owner (when - if I get rich rich Teddy will really
have a building to envy!!! lol!) my family didn't even know
what I was up to until it was open!!! lol! Plus I still have
my job working as an inspector for the city.

For all the new faces/names on the forum, Teddy is my sweet
dolly sulcata he will be 5 years old tomorrow. Uhm the
10 gallon tank questions still make me laugh - I guess I could
use a 10 gallon tank to put his hay in while I hose it off before
I give him the pile to eat. That's his main diet now, Mazuri
pretty much just gets fed once every 2 weeks only. I can't believe
I'm saying this (EJ! LOL!) but I feed him timothy hay and allow
him to graze, that's the bulk of his diet. HA!

I'm pretty new here, so this is my first time meeting Teddy. He's great, and his home is amazing! I visited your website and really enjoyed all of the photos. Love the Tarantulas too. I had several when I was single, but married an arachnaphobiac so no more Tarantulas for me. Thanks for sharing the pics. Teddy sure is one lucky Tortoise! And any thoughts of my getting a Sulcata just went flying out the window. I knew they got big, but didn't realize they got THAT big.

Why, yes, we are here! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEDWARD! He looks so handsome. Virgie is still chugging slowly along. He's over 2# now and bigger than a large box turtle. Still has a poopy face! Virgie will be 4 years old in 2 months and I'm still amazed at their size difference. You just can't predict what any individual tort will do or even tell someone, with a hint of accuracy, what to expect in 5 years...70 pounds or 3 pounds! I'm fairly sure, he's a she. Virgilia. Mostly call him Virgie. Will I ever get used to saying her or she? She won the photo contest in April at TurtleForum.com. Won a subscription to Reptiles magazine. I am out of control with my turtles/tortoises. I have 3 red-eared sliders, 4 three-toed box turtles, Virgie, a Greek (actually 2, I pick the other up in Daytona in August), and a Russian. It's really taken off since I've been losing all my Rottweilers to old age and cancer. I knew it would catch up with me. I lost 4 in the past 14 months. Kind of numb. So now I have turts and torts that live lots longer.

Good to see you still here, gee you're getting a collection
of the shelled ones! Sorry about your dogs (((hug))) that's
the downside of them. I'd love to have Great Danes, one in
each color just about (Fawn, Harlequin, Black and Brindle is
good that'd be 4), but the 7 year life span is depressing. When
this car dealership gets established (we're doing great already)
I want to get more involved with sea turtle preservation, and
I'd like to have a big galop tort, better yet 3 of them. That
will be a goal. Or Aldabras, something big, Teddy's puny!
Virgie looks great, I think you're right, probably a female.
The shape of the shell perimeter at the head makes me think
that. When am I going to get a LARGE tortoise!?

teddy is ADORABLE, as always! sulcatas are amazing, but i think that adult redfoot size is enough for me to handle!

good luck in your new business venture, and definitely share any home improvements teddy gets as a result. i really have enjoyed checking out his setup!
