Broken frilled tail

My frlleds bottom inch of his tail is bent at 90 degrees and looks like it is holding on by the scales. Should i reach in there and just take it off quickly, should I leave it, or should i take him to the vet.

The ideal would be to take him to the vet and have an injection to prevent infections.
