There is a very good site about mites. www.vpi.com
Just scroll down till you see "The war againts mites"

I have a jungle carpet python that had mites. What I did was tore apart her entire cage and cleaned it real good with some bleach/water.I threw out all her substrate and cork bark hiding thing. (I heard you can bake the cork bark to kill any mites on it but it made such a horrible smell in the oven that I just threw it away). Then got some Provent-0-Mite and sprayed down the cage with that. You have to let the cage 'air out' after spraying it with the Provent-0-mite.
When I was cleaning her cage and furnishings I soaked her in cooking oil to drown any mites still one her. Water won't get under the scales that is why someone told me to use cooking oil. It worked great. After her soak I rinsed her in lukewarm water under the faucet and picket off any mites I could fine.
If you have any other reptiles.....isolate the one with the mites! They can spread big time. I kept my python isolated untill her next shed till I was sure she had no more. I was fortunate to catch my mite problem early. I have not seen any more mites on any of my snakes since.
Honestly there may be an easier way to deal with mites. Check out that site. This is just what I did. I like to make good and sure I got rid of them. Good Luck

Or buy a 7 dollar can of sevin dust, which actually works and is 100% harmless to your corn.5% sevin dust can be picked up in any lawn and garden center and will treat about a 1000 corns.
