i just built a 10'x 5' outdoor cage for my tegu and I was wondering if you had any good ideas for plants and furniture to make the cage look nice and so my tegu will enjoy it.

How about a nice pool and waterfall? Its a great effect and really adds to the humidity. I am just finishing my indoor for our Arg Red and it has a two-tier waterfall and elevated pool (with a moist hide under the pool.) Just an idea. How about posting some pics of your.

The hardest part in building this enclosure, was digging the trench for the cinder blocks (my dirt is like clay). I went 2ft deep with blocks, and then went 5 rows high with interlocking Garden Wall Blocks (from Home Depot). I then filled all the gaps with concrete to give it a smoother finish. My wife painted the inside to give it a more natural stone apperance. I dug a burrow 2ft x 3ft x 1ft deep, and covered it with plywood and dirt. I set a large water bowl into the ground, and added the plants. I left the plants in their containers, for easy replacement (I'm glad I did that, cause the tegus are quite rough on the plants).
The dimensions of this enclosure are 10ft x 5ft x 2.5ft high. Total cost was about $150.00 before plants.
One final comment: Although this enclosure has a slight angle facing in, they CAN climb out. I found this out the hard way, when drucilla came walking in the back door. I have since added a screen cover.
