Lemon Cow Sucker Update!!

KE Jul 04, 2004 10:02 AM

Hello everyone!
Below you will see a photo of the only lemon cow sucker that hatched this year. I had a total of ten eggs and all of the other babies turned out to be possible double hets. I do have one egg left that was laid much later that I am holding out hope for. In the past my double hets have produced over 50% freaks, so I guess the odds just caught up to me. It is kind of a shame as this was the first year I was going to offer up this new morph for sale. Of course, whoever does end up with this snake and some double hets will have a whole year head start on everyone else! I am hoping that this little snake proves to be a male. I will update you all later on this detail. For now, take the time to look over my posts below. Thanks to everyone who has lended me support on this project over the past years. If this is all new to you and you are wondering why I call this morph a cow sucker allow me to explain! The founders were discovered in Kentucky and that is one of the names that locals use when referring to what most people call a black rat snake. We also call them chicken snakes, cow snakes, black snakes, etc. If you don't like the cow sucker name that is too bad. I produced the morph, so I get to name it!! Thanks for looking and sorry for the long load times on the pics. I wanted to show big photos so you could all get a really good look at these new mutants! Will Bird aka K.E.

Ok, I know I must be REALLY behind the times but why the heck are these obsoleta morphs being referred to as "cow suckers"?

You've posted several times on this project you've been working. I've had my fingers crossed since one of your posts last year. Your new morph is an exciting addition to the North American rat snake. A male should would be nice too.

Good luck,
Terry Parks

>>I have seen some of your earlier pictures and remember wondering what in the world a lemon cowsucker was.
Now as soon as I see that posted I can't wait to check out the pictures and learning of your progress. Those are definitely some beautiful snakes.
When you finally get this project up and running, and are able to offer these animals for sale, you are going to make a killing and deservedly so.
You created these snakes..please call them what you will, just hurry up and get them available to us!!!!!!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
