Why don't you just smash them. They will decompose & become fertilizer.

1.My vivarium is heavily planted.

2.As soon as you put your hand anywhere near them they dart off somewhere.

3.They mostly hide behind the tree fern panels in small gaps

4.The quickest way to get them by hand is to punch them, and if i punch them the tree fern panel will probably fall off.

how about putting a cup of water so they can drown, or put a piece of fruit in the bottom of something tall & see if they will go in willingly.

i would not worry they will die in soon. and you may actually get some eggs laid that will hatch some pinheads if you got a female. I have had a few in my tank from time to time and they never cause any problems. they usually roam around when everyone is asleep. I did read one dart frog book that gives the idea of putting pairs of adult crix in the tank for that exact purpose. it states each pair will produce about 75 pinheads a week. I was a bit skeptical about this idea so i have never actually practiced this method but i do leave them in if they get loose or happen to grow up in there.

if you can make sure your frogs wont get caught on it, you should try a fly strip or something.

I get the same thing from time to time, sometimes I leave them in, best way I found to catch them is put a small piece of apple or potatoe in an area that you can get to from the top. When the're eating I put a small clear container over them.
