Need help with making cage!!!

mike d Jul 04, 2004 06:08 PM

i need some ideas for a cage for my iguana.. i am still not comfortable with him climbing all over a tall cage.. he doesnt seem to under stand that if he walks off of a shelf he will fall.. i ahd him up on his shelf that is in his cage that he cant get to because he could never climb up to it and he just tries to walk right off of it.. so i cant have shelves. which makes it hard to have a tall cage... he is a very hard iguana to please..lol:P

so i need ideas on how design the inside of the cage... i dont think ill be able to sue ramps because when ever he climbs he tends to go to the right side so i am fearing that he will fall off. so i am stuck...

also to those of you who have built and are using corner cages do you like them? i think one of thsoe will fit good in my room. but i dont know if it will give him the amount of room he needs...

also if you have pics please post them.. ir eally need help on this..

What I would do, is build him shelving but overlap them so no matter what, he can never fall far. If you stagger them and overlap them well enough with wide ramps, he could probably have quite alot of roaming space and be up high without any danger of him falling more than a few inches. Maybe consider hammock/netting type stuff across parts too, good climbing exercise and a safe spot to land. Wrap sisal rope around any ramps or climbing branches so he has lots of grip, and maybe put a bit of an edge on each shelf so he has somewhere to hook his toes and also an indicator of where the edge actually is. If I think of anything else I'll let you know!
