Leo Enclosure Question!

$$PsYcHo$$ Jun 20, 2003 05:49 PM

Hey all! i changed my leo's cage around about a week ago and changed to natural sand from calcium. ever since my leo has been more active. everytime i look at the tank he's in a new spot. he's also spent 90% of his time on the cold side, though , in his cave. before i made the changes, he stayed on the warm side 95% of the time! i like how hes always out and all now but is this a good thing or a bad thing? thanx!

Its not a bad thing that your gecko is all over the place, but being on the cold side might be. when you changed its enclosure did you move the hide. if its your geckogs fav hide then that could be why its always over there. also, since leos are creatures of habit, they get stressed and confused when things change. it just takes some time for them to get used to new things.

just one thing, you said you switched from calc sand to regular I think. make sure to watch your gecko and make sure its not eating the sand. if it was used to eating the calc sand for suppliment it might get the wrong idea about this stuff and that could lead to impaction. just a thought.
