Need help to idnetify a big tadpole

ke4tyb Jul 05, 2004 01:44 AM

My daughter was given a big tadpole that was swimming in the plant tank at our local miejers store. They do not carry frogs so the young man had no idea what it was. It is about the size of a womans pinky finger. No laughs please LOL. So we fixed it in a 20 gallon tank of water. Then I realize we aren't actually sure this frog is aquatic. HELP how do we know. It has no legs yet and it comes to the top for air occassionally. We want to make sure if it is a land frog that we know what to do for it and how to raise it. Any help would be appreciated.

It is impossible to ID without specific info. The best you can do is to look at the pics at the website below, and try to match it up. Chances are it is either a leopard, green, or bullfrog, all in the Ranidae family.

I only saw one tadpole that kind of resembles ours. Would a pic help anyone identify it?

Realistically, only if it were as good of a quality as the photos on that website. Give it a try.
