Eggs!! =)

Turtlegirl Jul 05, 2004 09:34 AM

Hi, I posted a messege about a week ago saying that there were two gravid female Collard lizards at the pet store that I work at. Well I bought them and brought them home, and this morning when I woke up, one of the female had layed two eggs(and I don't think she's done.) I have them in an incubator in slightly moist perlite, at the temp of around 82 degrees..
Should the temp be warmer or cooler? And how long will the eggs incubate for?
Any incubation info would be greatly appreciated!!

Your temp is fine at 82 -83 nice

In about 40 to 60 days the eggs should be ready to hatch. Even if they turn brown, leave them as long as they are growing they are fine!

Glad you purchased them and got them out of the pet store

Good luck with them, Let us know how the eggs do ! Post some pics for us too !

Thanks! She just layed the third egg, but unfortunatley I think they might not be fertile... they're a little yellow, and this last one was very soft.
I'll post some pics in a few minutes...
The other female (the larger one) still hasn't layed anything yet, but hopefully her eggs will be fertile.
Thanks for your help!

There a male in the cage with them. The only way they could produce fertile eggs if a male was with them while being orange. I do not remember hearing you say there was a male in the cage. If there was then ignore all of above.
Good Job

Hi

umm, last week when I got them, there was not a male in the cage, but they had only been at the pet store for a day or two and I do not know where they were b4 coming to the pet store..
Here is a pic of the eggs (and she just layed a 4th one...)

showing, which means fertile.

Atleast that is what I see in your pic, they are alittle yellowy, and squishy soft like a water ballon is probably infertile. BUT that one with pink is a good sign

But , never toss toss them right away, they are always a bit soft when first layed. Leave them in incubator , may come around.

Just wait and see, WE ALL DO THE SAME THING, Hheheh we wait and see !
