Does anyone know any good iguana breeders in the Tampa, FL area? I am looking to buy a baby iguana in the next month or so and don't want to get it at a pet store.
Thanks in advance?

I know you're bound to get this from several people, but have you thought about a rescue? There are so many sweet, already tame igs out there who need good homes. And though I can't remember names/locations offhand, I do know there are ig rescue groups in Florida.
PLEASE do not buy one from a petstore or a breeder!! The ones in the pet stores come from "breeders" which are farms with thousands of iguanas crammed together. Please adopt one of the thousands of igs that are abandoned every year!!

please try and find one that is up for adoption.. they tend to be alot sweeter.. give one a home that needs one..

I found Forest on the Green Iguana Society's web site. You can adopt an iguana there.

I look every couple weeks & I know there are 1 or 2 from Tampa there & there's even one here in Spring Hill even though it's listed as from Lutz and that one's a little fella.
Good luck.....I'm so glad to have found my big green baby there & give him an awesome home. He's a blast

yes their are soooo many iguanas out their that would love for you to take them in. also baby igs (the ones that are about the size of your hand or smaller) are harder too keep alive. im not sure why but everyone ive known that has bought one from a pet store has had it die on them. either it wont eat, or just dies out of the blue. it has happend to so many people i know. but the older igs that are rescued are almost always healthy and live for a very long time. also have you done your research and and made sure you have everything it needs and you know what your getting into? they are a big responsibility. whatever you choose. its your choice. your gonna love your new friend.
