new fangled mesh enclosures? good for boas?

amber_raven Jul 05, 2004 01:17 PM

hi..newbie here in need of advice...i have..( or shall i say ) my son has a central american boa..and we were considering building or purchasing a new larger enclosure for her...we have seen these large mesh and tubular metal enclosures at our local pet store and i was wondering if it would be suitable for a boa..my concern is keeping in heat and humidity if the unit is completely mesh..the petstore owner assured me that he's used them with boas and pythons before and had no problems maintaining the proper environment?
this is an example of what one of these units looks like in case my description is vague?

thanks in advance

In short - definately do NOT use a wire mesh cage for your boas. It will be absolutly impossible to keep up humidity levels in something like this, and your boa can injure themselves on the mesh. The pet store owner told you he keeps his snakes in these enclosures?? RUN AWAY!.
