Black ratsnake weird eye......input please?

Sonya Jun 20, 2003 06:26 PM

Okay, I think you can see it here. She DOES NOT have a retained eyecap....I checked her last shed...and since it was still laying around I checked it again. It almost looks like she has a scrambled iris like one of my cats had from being bitten by a dog. I don't know if this is a trauma or a cataract or what. Anyone with input? I was hoping to breed her in the spring. Any supposition that this is congenital? I wonder if this is why she is a bit of a psycho. Today was a rare calm day for her, so I got these shots and I didn't fear for my face looking at her to begin with. We both can be taught!

I can't really tell from the picture but it looks like what happened to my black rat last month. I have no idea what caused it but it came off on the next shed.

Yeah? See, this worried me more because it showed up after her last shed last week. I thought she looked so good I should get some picts. Then noticed it.
Is it possible to have a retained eyecap under a clean shed.....I wouldn't think so by the sheer nature of a shed. Bottom up layers and all. And I KNOW her last sheds have all been clean. Go fig.
