Lots and lots of questions on importing

LordDreyfus Jul 05, 2004 06:28 PM

I've seen pics of boas that were imported as either farm bred or wc. How hard is it to actually import yourself? I know the import permits must be a pain, but what else is needed? How hard is it to find a RELIABLE exporter? Is there a minimum amount of snakes they want you to buy? Or is it based on price? What areas of the world are easier to import from? What is the hardest? Is it easy to get true locality data from an exporter? Anything you can tell me would be much appreciated. Thanks! Travis

1.) You have to ensure legality of export location... which usually requires permits and buying a percentage of the export rights from a title holder, since most places limit the quantities exported and sell off the rights to that privelege.

2.) You have to ensure transportation... You need over night delivery in temperature regulated - air sealed environments so your deliveries don't explode during unpressurized flight!

3.) You have to ensure legality of import location which usually requires CITES, a business permit, an airport customs inspection and approval by the local government bodies...

I thought about it before. It is troublesome. Good luck.
