old cedar log for enclosure

Luce510 Jul 05, 2004 08:40 PM

I have this big cedar log that I want to put in my frilled lizard's cage. I know that cedar can be very harmfull for lizards but this log has been in our front yard for about 7 years and is bleached out by the sun and it's perfect for my cage because its also been hollowed out cause it's been kind of rotting away.

any response would be wonderfull
thanks

Although most of the cedar oils are likely dried up in this case, you would be wrong to put cedar in any reptile cage. The thing with cedar is that it is amazingly resistant to the elements, which means it has lots of the turpenes that are not good for reptiles. Better to avoid it altogether than to experiment on your pet.
