Snake In The Grass

CE Jul 05, 2004 09:10 PM

Just wanted to share a couple of shots taken at a fellow snake-crackhead's house today. All of these animals belong to Jeff Hartwigg , a great guy with an amazing collection of boas, pythons, monitors, and the occasional turtle, tortous or gator.. yes he is NUTS ! But has a better collection then the Memphis or St. Louis zoo .. always a pleasure to visit.

When they start making 6' retics I'm buying one! Probably one of the most breathtaking animals you can ever hope to own.

Gotta love Hogs , the blue and orange color changing is just amazing.. I love em .. and to think it's nature's beauty!

Wouldn't be a "CE" pos twithout a suri , this is a Tudehope female that I got in really bad shape, Jeff has done a great job of nursing her back to tip top shape, and hopefully I can find a nice male for her this winter... she's a stunning adult!

Enjoy

by Jeff. I bought it from the original owner, so I've never talked to Jeff.
I can't believe you posted the pic of that gorgeous retic. I've been spending some time on the retic forum and looking at them in the classifieds.

black bloods, and some more retic pics. He some amazinf retics, the lav-albino was going in to shed otherwise I would of tried to get a photo of him also. I know Jeff is incubating 14 eggs that the parents of your bloods produced this season but i think they are already spoken for...Anyway, his retics are awesome, lean and muscular not big fat slobs like some of the "famous" retics out there...more pics next time! Take a look at Jeff's site I think he has photos of atleast one of the parents.

What is your opinion on the temperment of the big retics that you saw at Jeff's?
I didn't realize that cbb retics can be pretty calm. What was your experience with these?
Are you still in the Memphis area?

he says they are very laid back and not very agressive unless your name is rabbit. He did say when they haven't eaten for a few weeks you can tell, and they almost expect to be fed, so during those times better safe then sorry. While I was trying to take photos of the albino he was surprisingly bashfull , he would rather hide his head under his coils then deal with me harrassing him... I don't know that I would of been as pushy trying to get him to pose for me if he was 18 ' like one of Jeff's big females... I know one of those big girls could easily kill a person.

how big is she now ? Did you find her a nice boyfriend yet ?

bambam69 Jul 06, 2004 02:35 PM

you know i havent measured her in a while but she is about 5 1/2 feet. she certainly does not grow as fast as my bci's lol. I have not found her a boyfriend yet. Maybe you could help me out in that department. She is one of my favorites even though she can be a little pissy at times. She keeps me on my toes lol.
