Hi, i d like to know if anyone here could help me to discover which disease killed almost all the Paramesotriton Hongkongensis that were being sold at a local petshop. And mine too!

A few months ago i went to a petshop im client and i saw a tank full of babies Paramesotriton.Ten days ago i went to the same Petshop and i saw the same vase with only a few Paramesotriton inside. They were juvies or adults.Probably the same i saw last March. As im raising Paramesotriton ( i have 3 very healthy and fat that i keep in different cages) i decided to buy another one.The price was ridiculous, only one dollar and a half each! When i was choosing one i saw that almost were dead! They had an open wound on the throat but any other visible injury.Only 2 were still alive, a tiny baby without half of its tail and an adult without one lower arm.I decided to buy the armless adult.

I took it home i gave it all the apropriate conditions, the same cage and husbandry im giving to my healthy 3 ones im keeping since January.I gave it vitamins, a clean cage, etc,,,.The first week it was doing great, eating mealworms, getting fat, active and i was very proud of it.Yesterday while i was examining it i noticed its throat had a LARGE open wound that it was not there the day before.Im quite sure of that because i ve been examing it several times a day to check its health conditions.

Well, i soaked it in anti fungus medicine, i put some antibiotics on the wound i did everything i read in the books about treating fungus/ bacteria attacks in salamanders and newts. It didnt get any better and it died a few minutes ago in my hands because the wound became so deep it could not breath.

I never read any thing like that! They become sick and die so fast even the salesman at the petshop didnt notice they were sick!

The most curious is the wound was limited to the throat/upper chest! Their bodies were perfect!

Do you know anything about such a disease??
