Cameras have difficulty picking up all the colors in a Texas bairdi. I love all the oranges on him. If you haven't yet, take him outside in the sunlight and check out all the colors on the scale edges. He will almost look like a different snake. That's a nice bairdi and thanks for sharing some pics. Here's a pic of one of the Texas bairds in my collection.

Nice snake. A terry said, its hard to get the colors on these guys to show up on a camera. Here is a pick of one of mine to show some variation. This girl came out more orange than she is, its really closer to a red color.

She turned out real pretty Travis. I know it's time consumming, but I haven't seen pics of some of your snakes in quite a while. Maybe you could throw up a couple sometime?

Im curently looking for a couple females to pair with him. This is the first of my soon ratsnake addiction.I own corns, guyana redtails, but nothing with the color this guy has.He is a calm and curious snake.I havent measured him yet but I bet he is a good five feet in length. The night I took the pics I had him out for about an hour and he just stayed glued to my arm.It was kinda funny because he was tongue flicking my face. While I understand all snakes bite and have there moods I felt no threatening actions from him.Im going to give him a few months to make sure he isnt moody and then try to place him in my son's second grade classroom.

Bairdi are one of the most docile of the North American rat snakes in my opinion. There are exceptions I'm sure, but generally speaking Bairds are calm as adults. The babies can exhibit normal rat snake flighty behavior, but that goes away as they mature. Here's a pic of a Mexican Baird for you to see.
