Tobias Update

shopunke Jul 06, 2004 12:20 PM

Just thought I'd let you all know how Tobias is doing. We had a little scare for a while. He was NOT eating, and he became very skinny. I began to panic, and then finally got ahold of a manager at petsmart who is a pro when it comes to lizards. So anyway, his terrarium is all set up and nice now. Turn out we had to go back to the dry dirt- He LOVES it! He's always dig dig digging. The bark chips were allowing his crickets to hide, then they'd die. So he never had anything to eat. Shame on me for allowing that. Oh! And we've also discovered that petsmart DOES sell mealworms! Oh boy, he chomped down six of those in less than on hour on day one. Now he's back on a good diet and his weight is rising, he looks very well. Here's a picture of him in the middle of swallowing a mealworm. Roar! Hehe. Thanks for listening!

That's good news. The cage set up makes a world of difference.
I'm glad that Petsmart was able to help you out with this.
Pet stores have a reputation for giving out the wrong info when it comes to collareds.

*nods* The "Pet Store" I bought him from had no clue what to do, except for the lighting. They had him in a ten gallon with another female on smooth-gravel, with a few crickets, a stick, and lots of fruit. Oh, and a water dish. I was so misinformed that I was afaid Tobias was going to die... but not anymore! =)
