How important is it for me to know for sure if I have a male or female beardie? I'm not planning on getting anymore and even if I did I would keep them in separate enclosures. From pictures I've seen here and on various websites and in my beardie bible I'm pretty sure its a male and the one time when he decided to get a really black beard and was really pacing (people here told me thats normal for males to do occasionally).Just curious. in your case it does not matter unless you find her gravid. Yes females can lay eggs even if no male is around. they will be infertile but she must go through the same effort fertile of not

ok, that makes sense to me. I had a female Cockatiel that layed eggs so I understand how that happens. Hopefully its a male and I won't have to worry about that. I'm pretty sure its male (but I'll know where to come if I'm wrong!) Plus eventually I'm going to have to make an appt. with the vet so I'm sure she'll be able to tell me. Since everythings been fine since I got him, eating/pooping/growing, I haven't taken 'Eddie' in yet. Thanks for the reply tho. Lo
