POTTING SOIL IN MOST HIDE

syntax Jul 06, 2004 01:46 PM

Im using moist potting soil in the wet hide in my tank. Is this okay? It holds the moisture well, and I never let food get into it, so as not to chance my gecko ingesting the soil, and getting impacted. I was using wet paper towels, but it dried out too quick when I mist it. Is there any problem with using the soil instead of paper towels?

Also, how often do leos shed? My baby leo is just about a month old, and has shed once. I moisten his hide daily, to help induce the shedding. When should I expext him shed again?

There's no problem really especially if they're not eating it. You can also try vercumulate/perculate, sorry my spelling is way off, Frigging 4 years of university education does nothing i swear. Aynhue i use paper towel and it does dry fast but when you're cleaning and messing around with them every day/night you can re-mist it.

With lose substrate prepare for a mess though, they will dig at it and fling it everywhere, i swear they find it funny to make our lives difficult :D
Good luck
