baby pacman diet

jimiano23 Jul 06, 2004 02:30 PM

I recently bought a young albino pacman, about the size of a quarter. He only eats one cricket every few days, just wondering if this is normal, i thought they ate more than this. I have all the proper requirements is the aquarium ad change the water daily. The temp is around 80-81 and the humidty is 78-80. He also only seems somewhat active at night are they nocturnal, i didnt think so.

Pac-man frogs are not very active in general unless they are feeding. What size crickets are you feeding him?

right now i am feeding him crickets that are about .5 to .75 inches long. should i switch to pinheads.

Do not switch to pinheads they are too small for a pacman frog to efficiently consume. If you have access to them I would suggest feeding some live fish such as rosey reds (fat head minnows), guppies, or mollies. These will be a good dense nutrient source as well as supplying calcium but the fish need to be alive to prevent thiamine deficiencies.

I have raised all the baby pac's I've brought home on medium crickets until they were but enought to take large. One of mine is almost always out at night and is pretty active. She is my only albino and the only one who ever really moves around.
