Cuban Tree Frogs- Gender Confusion?!

shopunke Jul 06, 2004 04:06 PM

Okay, I own two Cuban Tree Frogs- Froggy and Beady. Now, it's mating season, and I've always assumed that Beady was female because of her gigantic size compared to Froggy. (Females are always bigger)...But now, I noticed that she has the black swollen pads on her thumbs that males get during mating season! What's going on!?!? I've been wanting to breed the two for over a year now! Thanks in advance! Picture link below.
(April 7th. Sizes have not changed)

Those are nuptial pads. Males use these to grip the females during amplexus. You must have 2 very large males.

Oh my freaking God are you kidding me? One of them is SO tiny though, the other is HUGE! Oh god this just... oh my... I wanted to breed my frogs terribly. What should I do if I find a female? Do I need to get two?

Most tree frogs generally breed better with 2 males per female, for some competition.
