>>congrats on the new play toy...lol
Great picture, great looking snake.
You will have fun learning your new camera and will also probably end up doing like I do. Take about twenty pictures of which you might keep two or three...lol
But as you go along I think you will find that those two or three will keep getting better and better.

Thanks i am biased so it is good to hear others enjoy the picture. I took eight pictures of Strider and only kept three lol but the CF carn is small that is on normal quality it also has fine which i haven't tried yet.

Not sure if i will post but i took the dog to the lake today for a swim and took some great shots of him, frogs, and some artsy fartsy shots of the woods. Also got a shot of a cool looking water spider of some sorts.

I mostly used auto and scenes today ( close up/landscape/bright sunlight etc etc.) But i plan on learning the manual stuff as there is alot of manual settings i can mess with. Now for that darn compact flash card to arrive lol the starter one doesn't cut it i ordered a 256MB one which hasn't shipped yet.

Yeah I am going to have to get a larger card also.
Definitely fill up the "starter" card too quickly.

Bought this one:
Lexar - 256MB Compact Flash Card 12X - CF256-12-251

List: $54.99
Buy.com price: $41.99
- $10 (manufacturer mail in rebate)

Total $31.99 and it qualifies for free shipping

It was a recommended accessory for my camera so i thought what the heck and bought it.

Someone in the photo gallery commented on the pic and said they believe it is a: Fisher spider Dolomedes triton

Wayne,

Is that corn feeding well? It is very very thin. I know I am over feeding my corns by feeding them every 7 days but looking at this corn yours must be feeding a lot less.

I've had him 5 1/2 weeks now feeding every Tuesday since June 8th. When i got him he was skinny but i was told was eating. I fed him no problems 2 pinks because he is rather small the first week and all was fine. Second week i gave him 2 more pinks and he seemed fine until Sunday night when he gave me a excrement that was not 100% digested. Following Tuesday i gave him 1 pink thinking maybe i was overfeeding him and again come weekend i get a normal and a partially undigested excrement. These 2 weeks of partially undigested were nearly 50/50 normal looking excrement turning into the back legs and tail of a pink.

I posted about it at the time and Jimmy (draybar) has been helping me figure this out. He recommended raising the temps which i did and tried to feed normally after giving him 3 days of the higher temps i fed him 2 small pinks and come weekend 2 normal excrements and 1 that is partially undigested but not as much as previous weeks, this time the undigested part was mushy and only pinkish in color didn't really look like a pink anymore.

So keeping the higher temps i fed him 1 pink last night and hopefully will get nothing but regular excrement this week.

thanks for the post Marcel and keep up the good work on those amazing bloodreds of yours.

Looking at the picture I thought of parasites first. But after reading your reply I am pretty sure your snake has internal parasites. I would take some feces to the vet. It will not cost you a lot but give you tons of information on why it regurgs pinkies. A snake that size should digest pinkies within 24 hours without a single problem. It could also be that you have fallen into regurge syndrome.

no regurg he is pooing them out partially undigested like that.
Will call around today and see about getting a fecal, does the sample have to be fresh? he ususally goes overnight while i am asleep, also how would i keep it untill i get it to the vet? on the paper towel in a baggie? or in water?

thanks

Just put it in a small plastic cup and place it in the fridge (not the freezer) untill you go to the vet.

Got an appointment for Monday, earliest the gal that sees the reptiles can get me in. Luckilly i found out my normal Dog vet's partner does reptiles as well, so i got lucky, closest reptile expert listed is nearly a hour away.

Marcel these are for you lol they kinda give an idea on his size/girth. The first is my pudgy 26 yr old hand.

thanks again

Marcel Poots Jul 07, 2004 10:23 AM

Wayne,

That is definatly not the size of a 03 healthy corn. I mean, the size in length is okay but the girth is scary thin (imho).

This one features a half swallowed small pink. It shows his girth better i think.

Thanks

In my novice experience he looks ok to me... and when you consider he didn't digest parts of his meals for a while i say he's doing pretty good, last pic is good and i think he is healthy. Nice btw and are you shure he is normal and not oketee phase?

PAsnake Jul 08, 2004 08:06 AM

Thanks

He was sold as a normal at the reptile show. About his size, i put him into the deli cup i bought him in and he is larger now and when he coiled up took up quite a bit more space, so i assume he gained some girth as he isn't much longer maybe an inch.

I will find out on Monday as i have a vet appointment for a examination and Fecal tests to check for parasites. No problem really it is going to be nice to know for sure.

Also it seems this week the lump is gone within 36 hours so he may have digested completely this week. Even if he does i will still get the fecal tests to be sure.
