Making your boa big?

msubigdawg Jul 06, 2004 06:11 PM

I have seen some stuff that I am curious about. I have seen folks say that you can feed your snake more and it will get bigger. Does this only mean in girth or can you make it longer also by feeding it more? I want to know what people know about this or think about it.

I have heard that feeding them more can make them bigger as in growing longer faster, but that its dangerous and can stunt growth early, I've never tried this and though it would be exciting, I wouldn't want to risk it.

Power feeding, will result in your boa getting longer and fatter, but the bones of the snake will not be able to keep up with the flesh and you will end up with a pin head, really big body, itty bitty head, kind of like the bettle juice of the snake world. It also has many other draw backs such as health problems for the snake and a shorter life span, in general it is a bad idea, that is still a hold back from the 80's breeders when getting to the next level was the differance between being the man and not being the man, it is no longer the problem and not worth the damage to the snake (not that it ever was worth the damage but we were dumb back then!)
