Anyone keep a longnose snake? I dont see much of them but have seen them once in awhile at pet store I go to and they look like neat snakes.
I would like to know the care for them and are they snake eaters like kingsnakes?
Thanks.

I have kept a couple of wild-caught longnosed as well as a captive born specimen of the mexican subspecies antonii.
They can be tricky to get started on pinkies when they are small, and even adults tend to eat relatively small meals, but they are pretty easy to keep.
They prefer a substrate they can burrow into, like aspen shavings.

I have kept several of the two main sbsps.
R. l. leconti tends to be easy to get on pinks/fuzzies. Secret to success..Keep the food small!
R. l. tessellatus which is more brightly colored and has a more pointed nose can be a real bear when it comes to mice eating. They strongly prefer lizards. Unfortunately, it is the sbsps most frequently seen on the market.
All Longnose eat snakes.
