A. bahoruceonsis is my favorite herp, period. And wouldn't you know, it's not very commmon in the herp trade. There was a guy who lived just down the road from me who had one in a mixed vivarium with two dart frog and a small gecko (the tiny durnial yellow-headed species from African, not Phelsuma). B. bahorucoensis hardly showed iself in his densly-planted 55-gallon vivarium. The owner was planning to get some more from a friend of his down in the West Indies, but I don't know how that turned out.

Anyway, these beautiful little lizards are about the size of a bark anole. They rarely show up in pet stores. In fact, i doubt most pet shops could even order one. Unless you live in Texas or Florida and can get to a reptile shop, ou may be out of luck. If you really want one, you will have to order from Glades Herp. That's assuming they will have them, of course, and as they are the only store I have seen selling the species in question, I think they are you're best bet. Don't expect them to be cheap. They certainly will cost more than the green anole (think dart frog prices). All I know about them is they like the classic, warm humid cages that other anoles like and you can keep a pair in a ten gallon tank. They are not picky eaters from what I have seen. Unlike bark anoles, they are not ant-specialists.

Anolis bahorucoensis isen't very common in trade, like said above. This little species of the highlands of Sierra de Baoruco, Domincan Republic knows two ssp., which only one availbale in trade, A. b. bahorucoensis (not in trade is A. b. southerlandi). As far I know all these anoles come from a little 'private import'. Within the ACG there are numerous of breeders that keeps this little (SVL in males 51 mm) species.
Within the ACG you probably have more luck to get them. Probabaly with a good tank a some knowlege about Anolis/reptiles you can get them quit cheep, compared to the very high prices gherp ask (last time much more then even rare dartfrogs will be). Within knowlege there is also ment, not suitable for vivariums (humudity should not be higher as 70%). Temperature need to lay between 22-26 degrees, local 30. At night temp. need to drop, and humudity may raise.

Note: as far these little anoles are beautifull collored, the may be very shy.

Try to contact people within the ACG for more succes.

What about a herp show? Do these little anoles show up at herp shows/expos? I'm planning to attend the one in Bristol, VA, and A. bahoruceonsis was a species I plan to look for, along with dart frogs and day geckos.

well let me know if you run into them at the show. i myself breed and own both dart frogs and day geckos, so im familiar with their requierments. id love to have 2, or 3 but 1 would do just fine. so please let me know if you run into them at any time. thanks sktdvs1@hotmail.com

Well, I'm back from the herp show in Bristol, Virginia, and although I did not find any A. bahorucoensis, LLLReptiles sold me a Phelsuma dubia that was infested with chigger mites.
