6 Foot long cage plans for a large boid????

ttreptile1 Jul 06, 2004 08:35 PM

Does anyone out there have any decent 6'x2'x2' cage plans I can use for building stackable caging? Wuold love to get the cuts done right at Lowes becuase I lack a decent table saw for the job.Any estimates on the cost to build such a cage would be nice as well. I will use wood and either seal it with marine varnish or use laminate bathroom sheets and silicone the corners. Anyway, thanks in advance!

If you go with melamine 3/4" the cost will be approximately 40-50 for the melamine, (2 sheets of 4x8) 8 for the glass track, and depending where you get the door material can run anywhere from 30-100. So over all each 6x2x2 you build will cost you around 150 or much less (if you can find 1/4" glass or plexi cheap)

As far as a cut list, you can go with a simple design

This list would be for 3/4" material
2 pieces cut 6'x2' (top and bottom)
1 piece cut 5'10 1/2"x2' (back piece)
2 pieces cut 2'x2' (ends)
1 piece cut 5' 10 1/2"x6" (litter dam in front bottom)
1 piece cut 5' 10 1/2"x4" (top litter dam strip)

That will leave an opening of 14" for the door (which going with this height will offer plenty of access room, and also allow for smaller pieces of glass making it cheaper)

You will place the end pieces on the bottom and the top directly on the side pieces (for stability) Thus the reason for the back and litter dam pieces being 1 1/2" shorter in length.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask..
